MGM ceased production of animated shorts in 1967, by which time Sib Tower 12 had become MGM Animation/Visual Arts, and Jones had already begun to move on to television specials and the feature film The Phantom Tollbooth.

Chuck Jones founded his own studio- Chuck Jones Enterprises- in 1966 to co-produce and then produce these television specials, beginning with his Christmastime classicHow The Grinch Stole Christmas!. He went on to produces a series of "Cricket" films, as well as a series subtitled A Kipling Classic based on The Jungle Books and other stories by Rudyard Kipling.

By the early nineties, Chuck Jones returned to Warner Bros., even producing animation on the lot in Burbank. After a couple features, Chuck Jones revisited his Looney Tunes characters for a series of well regarded shorts.
