Sonic the Hedgehog Episode Guide -DiC Ent
ABC’s version was more of an adventure story than the comedy-oriented syndicated Adventures. In the Saturday morning show, the evil Dr. Robotnik had wrested control of the world of Mobius from its rightful king. Sonic and his fox sidekick Tails tried to help Princess Sally find her father and restore him to the throne. The speedy hedgehog still made the occasional wisecrack, but the plot focused on the quest. As in the video game, when Sonic built up enough speed, he could roll into battle with his buzzsaw-like turbo roll, bowling over his enemies.
Jaleel White (TV’s Urkel) provided the voice of Sonic in both series, which debuted within a week of each other in the fall of 1993. This show began five days after Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog begain in syndication. The ABC series ran only two seasons, but Sonic and Tails continued their streak of popular video games on Sega's Genesis, Saturn, and Dreamcast systems long after the show left the air.
