Son of the famous Western novelist Zane Grey, Romer also ghost-wrote some of this fathers books. In the early 1930's, Romer turned his attention to animation. His studio hired up many well respected animators, and began work on at least four shorts in the Binko the Bear Cub series. While none were ever thought to be produced, in 2013, a 35mm print of Hot-Toe Mollie was discovered by historian David Gerstein indicating that at least one short was finished.
