Magma Films is an independent production company developing and producing liveaction TV movies, feature films, documentaries, comedy dramas, entertainment programming and animation series and movies for an extensive range of broadcasters and distributors worldwide. In both live-action and animation, Magma occupies a strong niche position in the marketplace for the creation of high concept programming. The Company is acknowledged for its ability to generate humorous, quirky ideas that rise above cultural sensibilities to appeal to international audiences. Magma also has a solid track record in delivering high quality programming on time and within budget. Magma Films was set up in Ireland 12 years ago by Ralph Christians, an established German producer who worked for German broadcasters before starting Magma Films in 1984 in Germany and Iceland. Magma now centres most of its activity in Galway, but also owns the Film and TV production companies Ulysses in Hamburg and Belfast, Northern Ireland, and Pictorion Magma Animation in Hamburg.
