King Features Trilogy Episode Guide -Famous Studios
Because of the success of the King Features syndication of the Popeye television series, executive producer Al Brodax hired the same firms to produce 150 color cartoons of other KFS strips- 50 each of "Beetle Bailey," "Krazy Kat" and "Snuffy Smith."
To avoid the cartoons appearing just anywhere, King Features syndicated them on condition that they formed a franchised package, in which local hosts would dress as drugstore soda jerks and spotlight the "trilogy" on its own. That, however, is no longer the case, and the cartoons do appear just about anywhere.
Twelve of these cartoons were released theatrically before airing in syndication.
